Mrs. Susanna Getchell died at the home of her son, P.R. Williams, 402 22nd St., at 12:40 Friday morning from the infirmities of old age. Born in Ohio Oct. 20, 1831. At the age of 16 moved to Marion, Iowa where she later married Frank Williams. Mr. Williams died a number of years ago. Mrs. Williams was later married to Mr. Getchell also of Marion, Iowa. He also preceded his wife to the grave. Mrs. Getchell went to live with her son P.R. Williams of Moline September last.
She leaves three sons, P.R. Williams of Moline, Chas. Williams of Vinton, Iowa, Amara of Marion, Iowa. She also leaves two sisters one in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and one in Center Point, Iowa, one son and one daughter are buried in Oak Shade cemetery.
The funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 at the snyder residence, 1111 north 10th street. Sermon by pastor Beatty of the Methodist church. Music by the Misses Tripp and Reed and Messrs Millen and Hartson. Mr. Getchell was a soldier in the war of the sixties. The Grand Army Post furnished the pall bearers, Messrs N.J. White, R. Riley, J.D. White, W.C. Glover, R.E. Tripp and S.W. Rathbun.
