Death of Miss Rebecca Beckner
Miss Rebecca Beckner died at the home of her brother, Perry Beckner, 1586 Fifth avenue Sunday morning at 8:20 o'clock. She had been suffering from a fractured hip which she received a week ago when she fell from her chair. She was ninety years old and has spent the greater part of her life in Marion.
Rebecca Beckner was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, March 10, 1832, and came to Iowa 77 years ago. She has lived with her brother Perry since the death of his wife 26 years ago and has helped him care for his three daughters, who at the time of their mother's death were small children. She also cared for her two brothers, Perry and John, after her mother's death. They both survive her.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Harry G. Finney officiating. "Jesus, Savor, Pilot Me" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Sebern and Mrs. Bowman and Mr. Curran. "One Solemn Thought" was read by Mr. Finney. The pall bearers were Messrs. Shaffer Klink, Wm. Reep, Wm. Secrist, George White, Edward Reed and Walter Scott. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
