John Beckner. Died in Marion Dec. 19, 1891, at the age of 88. He came to Marion in 1845. By birth a Pennsylvania, moving westward via Ohio to Iowa where he resided until his decease. He was a mason by trade and followed that business (through life) for 60 years. He was a quiet, unassuming man in every day life; yet firm in whatever he did. He was a kind and affectionate neighbor, highly esteemed by all who knew him. He assisted in the erection of most of the buildings in Marion.
