Delores Starr dies at 69

CEDAR RAPIDS - Delores Ferguson Starr, 69, former Fairfield resident and widow of the late Col. (ret.) James Carleton Starr, died this morning at the home of her son, Phillip Starr, at 301 8th St. S.W., Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Starr had been seriously ill since last August. Her remains have been willed to the University of Iowa Medical School.

The daughter of Jesse and June Stater Ferguson, she was born Sept. 38(err), 1914, in Ottumwa. She was married to J. Carleton Starr April 11, 1937.

Mrs. Starr is survived by three children: Marcia Cicero, Panama Canal Zone; Phillip, Cedar Rapids; and Connie Mayers, San Bernardino, Calif.; also a sister, Corrnine Anderson, Ottumwa; and nine grandchildren.

She was member of the Presbyterian Church, Chapter MB, PEO, Abracadabra, and Gray Ladies in Fairfield for a number of years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating.
