Donovan R. 'Don' Brandt

Donovan R. "Don" Brandt, 40, of 408 N. Fourth St. died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at Iowa City after a short illness.

The body has been cremated, and there will be no visitation. The family will host a memorial gathering 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the pond at Zillman Hickory Hollow Park near Fairfield. A memorial fund will be established to benefit his children.

The son of Robert and Shirley Leinen Brandt, he was born Feb. 20, 1960. He gradauted from high school in Huntington Beach, Calif. He married Dianne Portz at Cedar Rapids on Oct. 11, 1991, and the couple moved to Fairfield in 1994. He was a self-employed drywaller.

Survivors include his wife, son Zachary and daughter, Elaine, all of the home; a brother, William of Fairfield; a sister, Beth Howder of Canton, Mich.; his father, Robert, and his wife Joyce, of Sun City, Calif.; and his mother, Shirley Denny, and her husband, William of Lake Placid, Fla.
