Michael William McCarte , 45, of 3735 G Ave. NE, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1995, in his home after a long illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. David Beckman. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, with military rites. Friends may visit the family after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his mother, a son, three stepsons, a stepdaughter, a sister, and a brother; and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William McCarte ; and a sister, Barbara Clarke.

Michael was born the son of William and Marilyn Harris McCarte on March 18, 1950, in San Francisco. On July 2, 1982, he married Diana Tesdahl in Cedar Rapids. She died in April 1993. Michael served in the Air Force during Vietnam. He was employed by Cedar Rapids Janitorial and Coe College as a security guard and had worked at Deere & Co. in Waterloo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Hanford Post 5.
