L.R. Benton, Retired Rail Conductor, Dies.
L.R. Benton, a retired Rock Island railroad conductor residing at 1714 Fourth avenue SE, died suddenly at his apartment in San Antonio, Tex., Monday afternoon, according to word received here. He and his wife left Cedar Rapids two weeks ago to spend the winter in San Antonio. He was a former resident of Estherville and was pensioned Nov. 1, 1907, since which time he had resided in Cedar Rapids. He was born in New London, Ia., Oct. 11, 1857.
