BENTLEY SCOTT FUNERAL TODAY
Marion Pays Tribute to Memory of Honored Resident
Funeral services for Bentley Scott, Sr., will be held at the Marion Presbyterian church today at 2:30 p.m. and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Harry Glenn Finney. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
S.B. Scott, aged 62, died at his home, 1309 Twelfth street, Tuesday noon, following an illness continuing nearly three years. He had a wide acquaintancee over Linn county, having served as deputy sheriff under A.W. Coquilette for five years, under John Taylor for six years, and under Thomas Avery for one year, ill health causing him to retire. Previous to his work as a deputy sheriff he was marshal of the city of Marion for many years.
Mr. Scott was born at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, April 3, 1861, and came with his parents to Linn county in 1872. He married Miss Sarah Austin Jan. 1, 1895, and is survived by her, by her two daughters, Mrs. Jos. W. Stoddard of Cedar Rapids, Miss Julia Scott, living at home, one son, Bentley, living at home and one grandson.
