STATE NEWS

The Republican records the death, by accidental poisoning, of Wm. McGregor, a boiler maker in B. C. R. & M. machine shops at Cedar Rapids. He was accustomed to taking three swallow of a certain kind of bitters every morning, before going to work. Last Friday morning he noticed an odd taste to his medicine, and mentioned it to his sister, which led to the immediate discovery that by a misplacement of bottles he had accidentally taken bedbug poison – corrosive sublimate. Physicians were called, but he died on Sunday. He was a widower with five children – the oldest but twelve years of age.
