L.G. COOPER IS DEAD
FOLLOWING TWO YEARS' SUFFERING OF RHEUMATISM WELL KNOWN CARPENTER PASSES.
Loren G. Cooper, well known as a contracting carpenter in this city, died at his home, 1563 Fifth avenue, at 4:15 Sunday afternoon. His death followed an illness of about two years, he suffering attacks of rheumatism. A week ago he was taken seriously ill and gradually declined. He was sixty-three years old.
Mr. Cooper had been a resident of this city about fifteen years. He was born in Ohio on November 2, 1849, and came to Iowa when ten years of age. He resided at Oskaloosa until about twenty years ago, removing from there to Burlington, shortly after to Fairfield, and then coming to this city. He employed himself at his business of carpenter work, and by honorable and honest methods enjoyed a prosperous business. He was a man of an extremely pleasant character, peace-loving and kind. His death is mourned by a great circle of warm-hearted friends.
Mr. Cooper was married twice, the first time April 15, 1871, to Catherine Snyder, at Marion. One daughter was born, Mrs. Etta Sutherland, of White Bluffs, Washington. Three years after the death of his first wife, he was married on February 26, 1895, to Mrs. Nellie M. Haynes at Iowa City. She survives him. He also leaves one brother, Samuel. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Woodmen of the World lodge, also a member of the Liberal Christian church. Funeral arrangements have not been made, awaiting the decision of his daughter. She may come here to attend the funeral.
