James H. Smalley, Sr., 47, of 680 Keyes Court, Marion, a 13-year Marion resident, formerly of Oakland, Calif., died Sunday at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1934, at Wolsey, S.D. He was employed by Wheel Motors in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie of Cedar Rapids; one son, James H. Jr. of Cedar Rapids; his mother Mildred of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Norma Huisenga of Sacramento, Calif., and his grandmother, Mina Schamp of Rio Vista, Calif.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. LeRoy E. Bauman of the Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
