Marcus Hickman, 75; Dies On Wednesday
Services for Marcus S. Hickman, 75, who died at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids early Wednesday morning after a short illness, will be held at the Yocom Funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday.
Born on a farm near Cascade on Sept. 1, 1872, to Shelton and Chloe Ross Hickman, he married Nellie McCreery of near Marion on Sept. 1, 1897. The family moved to the Alburnett community, six miles north of Marion on the Alburnett road.
A retired farmer, he was formerly president of the Alburnett Telephone company and was for 50 years a member of the Alburnett Methodist church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Mildred and Paul, both living at home, and Mrs. Carrie McCrary of Bartlett, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Cowan of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Laura Gillmore of Marion.
One child, Mrs. Myrtle Robertson, died at Martelle in 1938,
The Rev. James P. Galbe will conduct the services and burial will be in the Cedar Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers are Earl and Charles Dukek, Fran kand C.W. Frederick, Louie Levasseur and Harold Johnson.
