Alta S. Clemans, 71, of 302 Ninth st., passed away at 1:28 p.m. Friday, April 30, in a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of William and Mary Harbaugh Stiles on July 1, 1893 at Olin, Ia. On Oct. 16, 1915 she was married to Vern E. Clemans at Anamosa, Ia. Mrs. Clemans had been a resident of Marion for 52 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Marion.
Surviving are her husband; a son Merrill Clemans of Alburnett; a daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Dolores) Stimson of Grinnell; and five grandchildren, Mrs. Rodney (Sheryl) Nemec of Marion, Pamela and Janna Clemans of Alburnett and Craig and Martin Stimson of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben and Harvey Stiles and a sister, Lilian Hunter.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 3, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
