Howard Wittenberg Dies; Marion Resident
Howard R. Wittenberg, 60, of 711 Third avenue in Marion, died suddenly Monday night at a local hospital.
He was born in Oelwein on May 3, 1916, and had moved to Marion from Iowa City six months ago.
A retired mechanic, Mr. Wittenberg was married to Pearl Larson on June 10, 1974, at Rock Island, Ill.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Diane Cimino, Jacksonville, Fla; and Janice Wittenberg, Hills; four sons, Howard and John, Iowa City; Mike, Lisbon, and Dave, Hills; a brother, Don, Vinton; a sister Luella Ray, Waterloo, seven grandchildren; four step-daughters, Elizabeth Fellers, Iowa City; Debbie Wayne, Tina Wayne and Lynn Larson, all of Marion; three step-sons, Phil Fellers, Cedar Rapids; Billie and Paul Wayne, Marion, and three step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Turner Chapel East Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery. Visitation after 1 Wednesday and until 10 a.m. Friday. The casket will not be opened after the service.
