The Marion Pilot Thursday May 2, 1895
MRS. MERANDA E. McDANELD.
Died, April 14th, 1895, at her home near Burden, Cowley county, Kansas, Mrs. Meranda E. McDaneld, wife of J. McDaneld.
Mrs. McDaneld was the daughter of Dr. Noah W. and Anna Wilson. She was born in Chesterville, Knox county, Ohio, March 31st, 1832. When a young woman she moved to Iowa with her father's family. She was united in marriage to John McDaneld, Oct. 12th, 1851, at the age of nineteen, in Linn county, Iowa. About twelve years ago they sold their home in Iowa and moved on a farm near Burden, where she lived until her death.
At the early age of sixteen she gave her heart to Jesus, continuing faithful through her entire life. Although she had to suffer so much sickness and pain in this life yet she never ceased to praise and glorify the name of God. During her last illness (of which time she was bedfast for eleven weeks) she talked much of death and was only waiting for her Saviour to come and take her home where she would meet the others gone before. She remained conscious up to the very last and died trusting Jesus. She was a faithful wife and affectionate mother, and had a strong attachment for all her relatives and friends and it was her request that all should meet her in heaven. By her request the 23rd Psalm was used as a test for the funeral services and How Firm a Foundation Ye Saints of the Lord, was sung as the funeral hymn. She has one son and two brothers that survive her, and were present during her late illness. --Burden (Kan.) Eagle.
