DANIEL RICHARDS.
Daniel Richards, one of the pioneers of Fayette township, is dead. His illness had lasted but little more than a week. Pneumonia, rheumatism and complications were the cause of death. Deceased was born in Ohio, June 3, 1817, and while a boy, emigrated with his parents to Indiana, where he grew to manhood. In July, 1839, he was married to Sarah Lewis, and in the spring of 1841, with hearts full of hope, he and his young wife struck out for the far west, landing in Fayette township, which has been their home ever since save about one year's residence in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Richard was an active, energetic, representative citizen, and always allied himself with the best efforts of the community for the establishment and maintenance of good society.
