Jay J. Sabin, 800 Eighth avenue SW, a retired city fireman and a Cedar Rapids resident since 1899, died in a local hospital at 6:50 a.m. Monday after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1877, at Norway, he was married to Nellie Barnes on Nov. 14, 1906, in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Sabin retired as a city fireman on May 1, 1927.
Surviving are his widow; a cousin, Mrs. E.J. Parrott of Cedar Rapids, and several other cousins outside Cedar Rapids.
Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Carl L. Manfred. Burial will be made in Cedar Memorial park cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
