Elmer L. Dodge Services Held In CP Saturday
CENTER POINT -- Elmer L. Dodge, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, from injuries suffered when a tree he was trimming rolled over on him. The mishap occurred at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Aurner, Mr. Dodge's son-in-law and daughter, where he had been living for the past 10 years.
He was born June 4, 1877 at Hale and had farmed near Wyoming, Fairfax and Center Point. His wife, the former Alice Meakens[sic], died at Fairfax in 1923.
Surviving are six daughters: Esther Niemeir, Marengo; Ruth Nissen, Center Junction; Dorothy Nissen, Waterloo; Helen Railsback, Palo; Marguerite Puckhaber, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Aurner; a brother, E.A. Dodge, Hartington, Nebr.; and three sisters, Ida Jones, Olin; Saide Moses, San Francisco, and Laura Tripp, Altmont, Kans.
Services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sarchett-Murdoch Chapel in Center Point. Music was furnished by L.J.Dennis, Mrs. William Bull and Clara Ashlock. Burial was in Fairfax cemetery. Bearers were Vernon Seltrecht, Donald Niemeir, John Nissen, jr., Elmer Gene Nissen, Clifford Railsback and Virgil McQueen.
