The Marion Sentinel Thursday January 23, 1941 (I am aware of the discrepancy between the newspaper date and the gravestone date).
Services Today for Mrs. Carolyn Sholes
Carolyn Blanchard Sholes, a resident of Marion for twenty years, died at her home, the brick house at the end of north Tenth street, Monday evening, Jan. 20, at 9:50 p.m. following an illness of several weeks.
She was born May 25, 1854, in Trumbull county, Ohio, the daughter of S.P. and Frances Dray Kennedy. She was married to Albert Blanchard, who died about thirty years ago. A brother, J.W. Kennedy, of Lincoln, Ill., came for the funeral. Her only other relative, a sister, Mrs. Ida Wagner, of Alexandria, Minn., was unable to make the trip. Mrs. Sholes was a member of the Congregational church.
Funeral services were conducted this Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the Hall Home for Funerals, with Dr. Raymond Swisher, of the Congregational church in charge of the services. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
