OBITUARY.
Mrs. Margaret Withers was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, February 19, 1813, and died in this city June 8th, 1893. Between these two dates there is a long and useful life so genial, so modest, so gentle in its ministrations, that its absence specially emphasizes its nobility. Mrs. Withers was a prominent member of the Methodist Episcopal church of this city thought the weight of added years compelled her to drop its burdens. She was ill about one month, the latter part of her illness being especially painful. Surrounded by every comfort and waited on by eager, loving hands her closing days seemed unusually full of blessings. Her faith in humanity's Savior gave her great peace and some rapturous experiences. The end of the earthly life came slowly, suddenly, but its fading out was the setting of a sun throwing a halo of beauty over the earth to which it was bidding adieu.
The funeral services were held at her son's home on Friday last conducted by her pastor, Rev. J.G. Van Ness assisted by Rev. A.S. Marshall and W.H. Slingerland.
