Rev. Harry D. Green, 89, a resident of Meth-Wick Manor for the past seven years, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Friday, June 2 at Meth-Wick Manor. He was born the son of William and Sarah Caswell Green on Sept. 13, 1882 at Birmingham, England.
On Feb. 17, 1909 at Detroit Lakes, Minn. he was married to Evelyn M. Boswell. Mrs. Green passed away on July 30, 1970. Rev. Green came to the United States in 1909 and lived in Minnesota. In Iowa Rev. Green served as pastor of the United Methodist church in Coggon for four years, in Anamosa for six years and in Maquoketa for 11 years. He has lived in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area for the past 12 years, having moved to Meth-Wick manor in 1965.
Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Mabel Green of Springfield, Ill. and Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Hanson of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; a son, Rev. Merton B. Green of Sioux City; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5 at the First United Methodist church in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb and Rev. Lee Soule. Murdoch funeral home in Marion had charge of the arrangements. No visitations were held. Friends may if they wish, contribute to Meth-Wick Manor as a memorial.
