Fred P. Fernow, Lifelong Marion Resident, Dead
Fred P. Fernow, life-long resident of Marion and vicinity, died Tuesday morning, after an illness extending over a period of weeks. He was the son of Samuel and Barbara McArthur Fernow, born September 18, 1868. He was married February 27, 1894, to Olive B. Howard, who died July 17, 1929. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harry Enck, Mrs. Beryl Dickey and Miss Marjorie Helen Fernow, of Marion, and a son, Howard M. Fernow, of Los Angeles. There are also two grandsons, Vernon F. Enck, in the U.S. Navy, and Howard L. Dickey, of Marion, and one brother, Carl Fernow, of Marion. A niece and
a nephew, Marjorie Drew Peet, of Solon, and Donald Drew, of Alice, Texas, were reared in the Fernow home.
Mr. Fernow, who was a retired farmer, had been manager of the Marion Livestock Shippers association since 1929. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and his pastor, the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, will conduct funeral services in the Yocom chapel today. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
