C.C. Scott, Life-Long Resident of County, Died Early Tuesday
Claude Clarence Scott, a lifelong resident of Linn county, died Tuesday, October 19, at 8:45 a.m., at University hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.
Mr. Scott was born July 2, 1876, on a farm five miles north of Marion, the son of Thomas W. and Mary Jane Humphrey Scott. He was married February 26, 1903 to Minnie M. Kerns, the wedding occurring on the farm where the family has resided since their marriage, save their few years of residence at their Marion home on Twelfth street, when Mr. Scott's health first threatened.
Besides Mrs. Scott there survives their son, C. Harold Scott, of Cedar Rapids and their daughter, Helen L. Scott, of Pasadena, Calif., and one grandchild, Ernest Wayne Scott of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Mott, of Pasadena, and Mrs. Mabel ALbaught, of Cedar Rapids. Three brothers, Mark E., Earl L., and Hugh, all had preceded him in death.
Mr. Scott had been a farmer all his life, was a good neighbor and friend, and a conscientious good citizen. He was a faithful member of the Marion Presbyterian church, and had served as an elder of that congregation.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Yocom chapel in Marion, with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, Presbyterian minster, in charge. Interment will be in Oak Shade.
