Lifelong Linn County Resident Dies Saturday
Isaac Burgess, 73, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at his home 797 West Eighth Ave., following a long illness.
He was born March 22, 1880 at Buffalo, Ia., the son of John and Ann Osgood Burgess and has been a life long resident of Linn county. He was married to Miss Ida Thompson at Marion on Dec. 25, 1909 and she passed away at Marion on August 8, 1936. Mr. Burgess was a retired carpenter for the Milwaukee Railroad.
Surviving are three children, J. Howard Burgess of Key West, Fla., Harold Burgess of Perry and Mrs. Harland (Grace) Larson of Marion. He also leaves eighteen grand children, three great grandchildren, three brothers, Harry, Joe and James Brugess, all of Cedar Rapids and three sisters, Mrs. Mendom (Carolyn) Howard and Mrs. Edward (Addie) Alexander of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Lewis (Mable) Stusak of Atlanta, Ga.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Murdoch Funeral Home by the Rev. J.P. Knepper of Marion. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
