John Sidlinger Dies; Last Rites Tuesday
John Eben Sidlinger, 75, a retired Marion carpenter, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
Born Aug. 10, 1873, at Linden, Ill., he served with the Fifth Iowa regiment in the Spanish-American war. He was married to Leota Maude Clemans of Marion in December, 1898, at Cedar Rapids. She died Feb. 2, 1935. Mr. Sidlinger was a member of the Methodist church and of Dows camp, Spanish-American War Veterans.
Surviving are three sons, Paul E. of Cedar Rapids, John D. of Des Moines and Henry Miles Sidlinger of Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth S. Ratliff and Mrs. Mildred M. Hay of Marion and Mrs. Bernice L. Reid of Lisbon; 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Yocom chapel by the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Marion post 298, American Legion. Friends may call the chapel.
