L. Archie Scott Dies, Services Are Friday
L. Archie Scott, 73, of 294? Fifth avenue, a Marion resident the last 51 years, died Tuesday in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Born Jan. 16, 1902, at Vinton, he was married to Bessie J. Rose Feb. 25, 1924, at Vinton. Mr. Scott had been employed as a painter at Quaker Oats Co. for 14 years and was a member of the Eagles Lodge of Galesburg, Ill.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Belle Scott, Vinton; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Duball, Hiawatha and Betty Nieland, Park City, Ill.; two sons, Everett, Marion, and Terry, Vinton; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, Lester, Marion; Robert, Potosi, Wis., and Glenn, Cedar Rapids, and five sisters, Ruth Morris, Wallker; Mrs. Guy Fossett, Vinton; Mrs. Carl Johnston, Springville; Josephine Vondra, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Bill Carsten, Dubuque.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Philip E. Ewoldsen of Noelridge Park Christian church. Burial: Oak Shade. Friends may call at Murdoch's chapel after 7 p.m. Wednesday. The casket will be closed at 10:30 a.m. Friday and will not be opened after the service.
