Bessie J. Scott, 78, a lifelong resident of Marion until moving to Park City, Ill., 1 1/2 years ago, died Tuesday at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Ill., following a short illness.
Born April 26, 1907, at Marion, she married Lawrence Archie Scott on Feb. 25, 1924, at Vinton. He died April 29, 1975. Mrs. Scott was an employe[sic] of Quaker Oats Co. for 15 years prior to her retirement.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay Duball of Cedar Rapids and Betty Nieland of Park City, Ill.; two sons, Everett of Marion and Terry of Vinton; a brother, George Rose of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Chapel in Marion by the Rev. Douglas Lofton of Noelridge Park Christian Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Friends may call at the chapel after 4 p.m. today at Murdoch Chapel.
