---------------
CHARLES GROMMON
---------------
A well known and long time resident of Marion, Charles Grommon, passed away at four o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the age of 71 years. He was born in Marion and had made this city his home ever since, except a few years in Kansas when his parents removed to that state.
He had been in poor health for the past two years, but had been confined to bed for only a few weeks by his fatal malady, heart disease. As long as he was able he followed the trade of brick and stone mason.
His wife, whose maiden name was Mary A. Newell, preceded him in death about seven years ago. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Mr. LeRoy Grommon of Marion and Mrs. C.D. Rogers of Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church, in charge of the I.O.O.F., of which he was a long time member. Rev. A. Hanscom conducted the devotional exercises and burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
The death of Mr. Charles Grommon marks the passing of one of the best men who ever lived in Marion.
