Mrs. C. Guzzle Called in Death
-------------------------------
Mrs. Charles Guzzle, 187 Tenth street, died at 5:20 Wednesday evening at her home, after having suffered a stroke Tuesday evening. She had been in poor health for about twelve years, and was stricken when she came down town to shop Tuesday evening.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Christian church, with Rev. C.J. Biddle in charge. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
As Christine Gooley, daughter of N.P. and Elizabeth Gooley, Mrs. Guzzle was born in Linn Grove, Iowa, Jan. 20, 1880. When she was quite young she moved with her parents to Marion, and had lived here most of her life. On Nov. 22, 1899, she was married to Charles Guzzle, and four children were born to the union: Mrs. C.E. Knouf, of Mairon, and Roy, Howard and Arlene, at home.
She is survived by her husband, four children, two grandchildren and three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Harley Guzzle and Mrs. L.A. Klump[sic] of Marion, Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Quincy, Ill., and John Gooley, of Anamosa.
Prior to her illness, Mrs. Guzzle was very active in affairs of the Christian church, and she was a very devout member until her death. A kind and loving mother and wife, she was held in high esteem by all who knew her, and her loss is mourned by a wide circle of friends.
