The Marion Sentinel Thursday April 6, 1978
George C. Hay, 75, of 1480 Fifth Ave. and a Marion resident since 1942, died April 1 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was born the son of Roland and Anna Marie Christensen Hay on May 4, 1902 in Seattle, Wash. On April 25, 1931, he was married to Mildred Sidlinger in Cedar Rapids. Mr. ay retired after 17 years of service with Iowa Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Marion.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Leota) Kassler of Chariton; two sons, Capt. Donald Hay with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif. and Robert Hay of Marion; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Harms of Wyomiong, Mrs. Frank (Alice) Zachar of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Ernest (Nora) Arn of St. Joseph, Mo. and three brothers, John Hay of Cedar Rapids, Milo Hay of Denver, Colo. and Frank Hay of Marysville, Kans.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. April 4 at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Clive Cook. Interment was in Oak Shad cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
