Edith P. McGowan, 87, of Marion, died Monday, April 7, 1997, in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Services were held on Thursday, April 10, at Murdoch Funeral Homes in Marion. Pastor Edward Gregory officiated. Burial followed in Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Turner of Louisville, Kentucky and Mary Manwiller and husband Floyd of Ames; a son, Douglas and wife Marge of Marion; and a sister, Ethel Lohse of Glendive, Montana.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, William Robert "Bill" and Bernard; four brothers; and three sisters.
Born the daughter of Charles and Jennie Dibble Rion on May 3, 1909 in Paullina, she married Clarence McGowan on Dec. 22, 1929 in Marion. He died March 18, 1954. Edith was a resident of Marion for most of her life, and was a homemaker.
