C.L. McGowan Dies.
Clarence L. McGowan 46, 1062 Fourth street died suddenly Thursday at 5 p.m. in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Born Oct. 28, 1907, at Cedar Rapids, he was a mechanic and at the time of his death was a tin press operator at the Katz Salvage Company. During World War II he was a private in the army enlisted reserved corps and served as an aviation instructor. He was married to Edith Rion[sic] at Cedar Rapids, Dec. 23, 1930.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Dempsey McGowan of Marion, and five children, Bernard, Phyllis, Mary Ellen, Billy and Douglas McGowan, all at home; four brothers, Leo and Clement, of Marion and Donald and Roland of Vinton.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Charles Moore. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
