Elmer Betzer Dies Mon. in CR Hospital
Elmer G. Betzer, 1205 Eighth st., passed away at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at a Cedar Rapids hospital following an extended illness.
He was born July 2, 1893 at Fairview, Jones county, the son of Frank and Mabel Cusher Betzer and moved with them to Marion when a boy. On February 12, 1920 he was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Garrison at Marion. For 23 years he had been a sanitary engineer at the disposal plant in Marion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Harold Betzer of Cedar Rapids, three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Vale, Gary, Ind., Mrs. Roy (Florence) Lange and Mrs. Otto (Thelma) Nielson, both of Marion. A brother Everett Betzer preceded him in death.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Charles Moore, pastor of the Marion Baptist church. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
