Sarah Alice Kinkead, 73, of Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Services were held July 25 at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, with the Rev. Del Bear officiating. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include {private}, sister, Margurete Clothier, Springville; a brother, Arthur Brown of Daphne, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion; a brother, Harold Brown and a sister, Emily.
Sarah was born the daughter of Frank and Nellie May Kamberling Brown on September 10, 1923, in Tipton. On May 23, 1953, she married Marion Kinkead in Marion, Iowa. He died May 6, 1997. Sarah was a cook for many years at several restaurants, including Stickney's Scoreboard, from where she retired. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Marion Post 298. A memorial fund has been established.
