Jerome W. Dochterman, 85, of Salem, Ore., formerly of Marion, died Friday evening in Salem Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1904, at Cedar Rapids, he married Sylvia Bieber Nov. 15, 1924, at Marion. She died in 1982. Before retiring in 1971, Mr. Dochterman was a pipefitter for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125 at Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Marion and a former member of Circle Eight Square Dance Club.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas of Santa Maria, Calif., and Roger of Marion; a daughter, Jean Andrews of Salem, Ore.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. David Ambrosy. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the chapel. A memorial fund has been established.
