Sylvia M. Dochterman, 75, of Route #3, a lifelong resident of Marion, died at her home, Thursday morning, March 11, following a sudden illness. The daughter of Alvia[sic] and Christina Nielson Beiber, she was born on Nov. 12, 1906, at Marion. On Nov. 15, 1924, at Marion, she was married to Jerome Dochterman. She was a 1924 graduate of Marion High School; and was employed at the Marion Water Department over 10 years, until retiring in 1967. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church; Gold Star Mothers; Marion Post No. 298, of the American Legion Auxiliary and Circle Eight Square Dance Club.
Surviving are her husband, Jerome; two sons, Thomas of Santa Maria, Calif. and Roger of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Jean) Andrews of Citrus Heights, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Virginia Price of Austin, Tex. She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; a brother, Willard Beiber, and a sister, Gladys Brown.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Marion, conducted by the Rev. John Gallagher. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion. Murdochs had charge of the arrangements.
