Marion Soldier Killed In Germany
Raymond D. "Red" Dochterman, a private 1st Class with the Army in Germany was killed in a motor accident on Friday, August 24, 1956. He was born at Iowa City, on April 8, 1936 the son of Jerome and Sylvia Beiber[sic] Dochterman and has lived his entire life on a farm near Marion. He entered the service on February 15, 1955 and was serving with the 10th infantry in Germany. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Thomas Dochterman, Eugene, Washingotn and a sister, Miss Jean Dochterman at home and his great grandfather, Jens Nielson of Long Beach, California.
The remains will be returned to Marion and services will be conducted at St. Joseph's Catholic church at a time to be announced later.
