Dumbolton Rites Here Thursday
Last rites for Dorothy S. Dumbolton, 47, a resident of Marion for the past 30 years who died at her home here Monday, were held at the Yocom chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong officiating.
Born in Marion May 21, 1901, she was the daughter of Edward and Mayme Dearborn Reed. Raised in Stone City and Anamosa, she was graduated from Anamosa high school and moved here 30 years ago.
On Sept. 9, 1923, she married Joseph Dumbolton at Marion. She was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church; Marion chapter No. 183 O.E.S.; Legion Auxiliary and Handicraft club No. 1.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mayme Reed of Marion; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Buckner of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Jo Anna Athey of Chicago, Mary Ellen and Marcia Lynn, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Leota Shesler of Indiana Harbor, Mrs. Marian Martin of Marion and Mrs. Isabel Rathburn of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one brother, Edward Reed of Marion and a grandson.
Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
