Joseph W. Dumbolton, Retired Electrician Died June 27
Joseph W. Dumbolton, 67, of 1340 8th street, a retired electrician and longtime Marion resident passed away Thursday morning, June 27, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born the son of Charles and Anna Dusil Dumbolton on September 13, 1895 at Waterloo, Iowa. On Sept. 9, 1923 he was married to Dorothy S. Reed at Marion. Mrs. Dumbolton passed away Feb. 14, 1949 at Marion. He served with the United States Army during World War I. Mr. Dumbolton owned and operated the Marion Transfer Co. for years. He graduated from Marion High School in 1913 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marion; Past Master of Trojan Lodge No. 548 and a member of Marion Post No. 298 American Legion.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Robert D. (Dorothy) Buckner of Alburnett, Mrs. Darrel G. (JoAnna) Athey of Lisle, Illinois, Mrs. Robert W. (Mary Ellen) Burns of Marion and Marcia Lynn Dumbolton at home; ten grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Edward L. (Althear) Smith of Marion.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 1963 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by Rev. Jean P. Hauter and Marion Post No. 298, American Legion. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
