Donald Albert Rundquist, 68, of 599 Seventh St., Marion, died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday in Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness.
Born July 24, 1911 to Albert and Jessie Blackburn Rundquist, at Royal, Nebraska, he graduated from Marion High School in 1930 and from Coe College in 1948 where he was affiliated with Alpha Delta Alpha Fraternity and Scabbard and Blade Military Society of R.O.T.C. He received his Master's Degree from New York University in 1951.
Mr. Rundquist served with the Army during World War II and was employed at Collins Radio Co. for many years as a guard. He also taught school in the High School at Waverly, Ia. He was employed as a Safety Engineer for Employees Mutual Insurance Co. and Bituminous Casualty Co. of Chicago before retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Methodist church; Trojan Lodge No. 548 A.F. and A.M.; Marion Post No. 298 of the American Legion; and the Society of Casualty Safety Engineers.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William L. (Muriel) Steadman of Marion; a son, Gordon of Delhi; a brother, Garland, Walnut Creek, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Allen (Evelyn) McKean, Malakoff, Texas; Mrs. Wayne (Ruth) Phipps, Shenandoah; and Mrs. Wilfred (Jessamine) Carroll of Minong, Wis.; three grandchildren, Jana Lyn Steadman of Marion and Matthew and Paul Rundquist of Delhi.
Services were held Saturday at Murdoch Chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb and Trojan Lodge No. 548. Burial was at Oak Shade cemetery. A memorial fund was established.
