Grace H. Lang, 96, a longtime Marion resident, died Tuesday at Dover Nursing Home in Cleveland, Ohio, following a long illness.
She was born July 29, 1888, and married Harley H. Baldwin in 1909. He died in 1918. She married Fred J. Lang on Sept. 29, 1920, at Monticello. They farmed near Monticello before coming to Marion in 1925. They moved to Muscatine in 1974 and to Cleveland in 1975. Mr. Lang died in 1977.
Mrs. Lang took nurse training at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello from 1916-1920, and worked as a nurse for 15 years.
Mrs. Lang was a 50-year member of Marion Christian Church, was a charter member of the Marion Planning and Zoning Commission, served for several years as president of the Republican Women's Club and was a member of Chapter 183 OES. She was past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Reading Circle and Marion Post 298 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, James Lang of Iowa City, and five grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Murdoch Chapel in Marion by Robert L. Welsh, minister of First Christian Church of Iowa City. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call at the chapel after 4 p.m. Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
