Joyce E. Tharp, 29, of 107 21st Street, a resident of Marion for the past 12 years, died May 17 at Cedar Rapids. She was born the daughter of Robert J. and M. Margaret Van Baren Finn on Oct. 22, 1950 at Newton. On Jan. 10, 1969 at Newton she was married to Perry I. Tharp. Mrs. Tharp was a graduate of Newton High School, and had been employed at Collins Radio the last five years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist church of Newton.
Surviving are her husband and two sons {private}; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Finn of Newton; two sisters, Joanne Finn of Newton and Mrs. Andrew (Judith) Meese of Florence, Kentucky; a brother, James D. Finn of St. Joseph, Mo.; and grandparents, Mrs. Kate Van Baren and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Finn, all of Newton.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb of the First United Methodist church. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery in Marion.
A memorial fund has been established.
