Ruth Kinkead, 101, of Marion, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Private family inurnment: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion at a later date.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents, Riner and Florence Klemm; her brother, Max Klemm; and son-in-law Robert Dye.
Ruth was born June 25, 1914, in Savannah, Ill., to Riner and Florence (Mason) Klemm. When she was an infant, the family moved to Iowa and Ruth was raised in northern Linn County near Muckersville. After graduating from Marion High School, she married Melvin Kinkead on July 6, 1935, in Savannah, Ill.
Ruth was a welder during World War II and then a secretary at Collins Radio (Rockwell) until retiring in 1974.
She was a member of German Lutheran Church in Savannah, Ill., West Prairie A & L Club, Alburnett Historical Society and Garden Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice in Ruth's memory....
