The Marion Sentinel Thursday September 1, 1966
Amos M. Kinkead, 83, a resident of Linn county and Marion most of his life, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 26 at his home, 855 Seventh Ave. in Marion. He was born the so of Alexander and Margaret Drago[sic] Kinkead on Jan. 22, 1883 on a farm north of Marion. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Beiber[sic] Kinkead in 1956.
Surviving are two sons, Melvin R. Kinkead and Marion A. Kinkead of Marion; six daughters, Mrs. Mabel Ash, Mrs. Billie (Mildred) Waite and Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Rick of Marion, Mrs. Molly Foster of Waterloo, Mrs. Oral (Betty) Beck of Alburnett and Mrs. Rudy (Lula) Talyat of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and three brothers, Purl I. Kinkead and Irv Kinkead of Marion and Pete Kinkead of Whittier. He was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne of Marion and three brothers, Archie, Charles and Bertram Kinkead and two sisters, Lydia Kinkead and Ida Crew.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by Rev. Peter Morgan, pastor of the Marion Christian church. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
