Felix Michel, 89, Linn Pioneer, Died Saturday Afternoon

After but a brief illness, Felix Michel, prominent early-day farmer of Linn county, died at his home, three and one-half miles north of Marion Saturday afternoon at about 1:30 o'clock.
He was born in Belgium, the son of Desire and Eugenia Michel, September 3, 1849, and came to the United States with his parents in 1852, and came from Dubuque county to this vicinity in 1865, settling on a farm four and one-half miles north of Marion, where he made his home until 1910, when he moved to the home where he passed away.
He was married to Elise Kocher at Center Ppoint in 1880, and she passed away April 18, 1936. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edith Albright and Mrs. Esther Clough, and two sons, Paul and Carl, all citizens of this community. Two sisters and a brother also survive, Mrs. Mary Metcalf of Beloit, Kansas, and Mrs. Josephine Cooper and Nicholas Michel of Marion.
Mr. Michel was a member of the Christian church. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Yocom chapel by his pastor Rev. Irving E. Wade. Pallbearers were Ralph, George, LeRoy Michel, Marvin Fernow, Walter Morrison and Leo Voss. Those here from out-of-town for this service were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Yates, Mrs. Anna Kocher and son, Charles, of Palo, and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Stookey of Shellsburg.
