COUNTY SUFFERS LOSS IN BATCHELDER DEATH

Stephen C. Batchelder One of the Substantial Farmers of Linn County
Brief mention was made in The Sentinel last week of the death of Stephen C. Batchelder at his home six miles north of Marion on Monday, March 15. His death came after an illness of ten weeks in bed, at the age of 60 years and 29 days.
He was married Dec. 11, 1902 to Miss Emma Uhr of Cass township, Jones county, who with four children are left to mourn his death. They are Harriet C., Roman L., Gilbert G. and Clark H. He is also survived by one brother, J.H. Batchelder of Langworthy and two sisters, Mrs. Carlyle Lamb of Fort Collins, Colo., and Mr.[sic] W.E. Dunn of Stickney, S.D.
Mr. Batchelder spent the most of his life in Jones county, moving with his family on March 7, 1921, to the farm home, where he passed away.
Those present at the funeral were: J.H. Batchelder and wife and daughter Pearl of Langworthy; Mrs. J.L. Batchelder of Sand Springs; C.H. Batchelder of Wyoming; E.W. Batchelder and wife of Central City, Henry Uhr and family, H.J Mayberr and family, Mrs. C Gentfor and son Glenn of Anamosa; Ray Hayes and wife of Monticello; Henry Scheer and E.J. Head of Langworthy and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Coggon.
