Mrs. Emma Uhr Batchelder, 69, died at her home, three miles southeast of Alburnett, Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. She was born Sept. 1, 1867, at Kilbourn City, Wis., the daughter of Leon and Caroline Uhr. On Dec. 11, 1902, she was married to S.C. Batchelder at Martelle where they operated a creamery. On March 7, 1912, they came to Linn county and purchased the farm home where she resided until her death. Her husband preceded her in death March 15, 1926, and surviving are four children: Mrs. Harriet Ramsey Central City; Romant and Gilbert, Alburnett, and Clark of Bakersfield, Calif. She also leaves a brother, Henry Uhr of Anamosa, and three grandchildren, John, Doris and Barbara Jean Ramsay[sic]. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Kilbourn City in early girlhood and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of Springville.
Funeral services will be held in the Yocom chapel, Marion, at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetetry.
