CEDAR RAPIDS
Frances Anna Batchelder, 88, of 6404 E. Cemetery Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Alburnett, died in her home Monday, July 31, 2000. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. Allen Biere. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors omitted for privacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Bob Kolarik; a granddaughter, Melody Sue and a great-grandson, Alex.
Frances was born July 14, 1912, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph J. and Olga Zelenda Kolarik. On Oct. 16, 1934, she was united in marriage to Romant L. Batchelder. He died May 22, 1996. Frances attended business college and retired from Rockwell. She was a longtime member of the Alburnett United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School superintendent. She attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Cedar Rapids. Frances loved to read and was a member of the Modern Book Club of Alburnett. She was a longtime leader of Starlight Pals 4-H Club and was very proud to have been a 10,000 hour volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital.
Memorials may be given to St. Luke's Hospice in memory of Frances.
