Mrs. W.E. Cornthwaite.
Mrs. W.E. Cornthwaite, 71, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Marion, died Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.E. Grempel, jr., of Webster City, with whom she had made her home the last two years.
Born Anora Wagner at East Lynne, Mo., March 20, 1873, she was married July 29, 1889, in Osage county, Kan. The Cornthwaites came to Iowa in 1892 and have lived in Jones and Linn counties since 1895, with the exception of two years spent in Colorado. Mr. Cornthwaite died April 28, 1927.
Surviving are five children, Jess H., Lyle, Wash.; John A., formerly of Cedar Rapids and now a chief petty officer in the navy air corps at Patuxent River, Md.; Ralph L., Cedar Rapids, Lola Clark, Marion, and Mary Grempel; and 14 grandchildren, two of whom are in the service: Lt. Charles E. Cornthwaite, with the engineers in Corsica, and Pfc. Wilbur L. Cornthwaite, with the marines in the South Pacific.
Services will be held at the Free Methodist church in Marion Friday, with burial in Oak Shade cemetery. The body will be returned to the Yocom chapel in Marion from Webster City Thursday.
