Former Resident of Marion Died Sunday in LaMesa[sic], California
Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Frances Sinclair, 69, a former Marion resident, who passed away Sunday noon at her home in LaMesa[sic], California. Although she had been under a physician's care for a heart ailment, her sudden passing came as a shock to her family and friends.
As Frances Mitchell, she was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 28, 1869, to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Mitchell. At the age of 14 years, she made the journey across the ocean to Canada with her parents, who settled in Kincardine, Ontario. On January 1, 1896, she as married to Edwin L. Sinclair at Hurley, Wisconsin, who preceded her in death February 28, 1929. To them were born one son and four daughters who survive, namely: Miss Evelyn Sinclair, San Francisco, Mrs. W.H. Arbingast, Peoria, Douglas Sinclair, San Diego, Jean and Catherine Sinclair, LaMesa, and one grandson, John Douglas Sinclair.
When she lived here she was affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star, and the Reading Circle, and she had been a member of the Presbyterian church, which she joined in 1901.
Wherever she lived, her cheerful disposition endeared her to everyone, despite her illness. She never lost interest in the "home town" and always welcomed the many visitors with news of Marion who stopped to see her in California. Mrs. Sinclair leaves many friends and relatives who regret very deeply her passing. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Yocom chapel, with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong in charge. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
